China Plans Hugh Buses that can DRIVE OVER Cars

China has overtaken the United States as the world’s biggest producer of greenhouse gases and biggest energy consumer. But the country is also thinking in big and bold ways when it comes to how it will reduce pollution and a new plan to build a “straddling bus” is among the boldest space-age schemes yet. In an effort to go green and relieve congestion without widening roads, the Shenzhen Huashi Future Parking Equipment company is developing a “3D Express Coach”, also known as a “three-dimensional fast bus”. The innovation will allow cars less than 2 meters high to travel underneath the upper level of the vehicle, which will be carrying passengers. According to China Hush, the 6 meter wide 3D Express Coach will be powered by a combination of electricity and solar energy, and will be able to travel up to 60 kilometers per hour carrying some 1200 to 1400 passengers. The first 115 miles of track is set for construction in Beijing’s Mentougou district starting in late 2010. The Chairman of the Huashi Future Parking Equipment company boasts it will take only a year and 500 million yuan, around million, to build the futuristic transportation system.

    @skylermiller29 Move to TX and watch a house get built by a crew of 15 hispanics in just 9-11 days. Move to Kansas and watch the house take a crew of 20 whites over 6-8 weeks to be built… Why can’t we have nice things here in the US? Because we don’t have a large source of affordable labor.

    @holonat
    In Mandarin, it said: If the car plans on turning in the same direction as the bus, then it may. However, if a car does not wish to travel in the same direction as the bus, then the bus has priority and is allowed to turn first.

    Parece ser interessante e super inovador, mas será que é viável?

    A Suggestion: As any car goes through underneath the bus, for safety concern, it should reduce itself to certain speed, say 60km/h or less than 20km/h difference. Thus underneath 3-D mega bus, there should be one or two security cameras and speed warning systems installed .

    Hope the designer can solve the noise problem.
    Because of the huge metal frame structure& panels and vibration transmitted from riding on the road, Very likely this mega 3-D bus will emit very loud low-pitch noise when rolling on roads. So I think the key is how to design a mechanic structure which produce lowest possible riding noise. I am positive of this innovation. Good luck
