Honda Civic Hybrid vs. Honda Fit Sport Comparo
SEE THE FULL COMPARO: www.edmunds.com They’re not fast, they don’t corner hard and they’re certainly not the most pulse-quickening cars we’ve ever tested at Inside Line. But if fuel-efficiency and utility are priority items in your next car purchase, then the 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid and 2009 Honda Fit Sport are unbelievable machines. Combining economic operation and utility like few other cars sold today, either of these Hondas is a responsible choice for the buyer looking to save fuel, minimize emissions and haul the family. Each has its own unique qualities — important distinctions that can’t be overlooked. The question, then, is which is the better car? To figure it out, for two weeks we used the 2009 Honda Civic Hybrid and the 2009 Honda Fit as they’re designed to be used. We drove them to work, loaded our families in them, packed our groceries in them and took them to the track to measure their performance. We argued the merits of the Civic’s superb fuel economy vs. the Fit’s exceptional utility. In doing so, we designed this test to suit the priorities of a buyer looking for reasonably priced utilitarian transportation. Accordingly, fuel economy and price make up the majority of each car’s total score at 25 percent each. Performance, feature content and our 29-point evaluation score make up 15 percent each, while editors’ personal and recommended picks combine for the remaining 5 percent.

hybrid comes out in cost after 26 years?
What if i drive 100,000 miles a year?
I freakn HATE when people give the break even point i terms of years…
that is so retarded, why not give the MILES….
Or at least tell us how many miles are in a “year”

I think it’s not logical to compare this two, it’s not even in the same class. If you have to compare to me the Civic Hybrid is better of course due to larger interior space, trunk space, better comfort, better fuel mileage, better looking appearance and so on while having only a slightly higher price.

what about a 2003 civic hybrid vs a 2009 fit? $8,000 and 50 mpg ave. vs. $14,000 and 31 mpg. If you buy used, the energy already went into the car/battery and thus, you are not aiding demand… I just bought a 2003 civic hybrid and love the calm driving and savings adding up in my bank account.

I own a Civic and i love it. But if it was this case, Fit or Civic Hybrid? I’d take the Fit without question.

Want to be green?
The absolute best way to be green is to NEVER buy another car again.
Stick with the car u have now, that will cut down on the cost and energy put in to produce new cars.
Hybrids are not practical

Who are you, Borat?

I get about 40mpg with my conventional civic. I don’t understand why anyone would buy a hybrid. You pay a ton more for it and you get a few more MPG. Then you have to worry about batteries later. Makes no sence. You’re blowing your money.

seee the hybrid only makes sense if your’e getting it on sale. We’re getting one fro 12000 a 2008 new 56 miles on it cause they’re trying to clear the showroom. I think then it’s worth it.

By fuel sipper, it means it hardly ever ‘chugs’ the fuel.

Well congratulations… Would you like a cookie? That’s too bad because I don’t bake.

I know the new gen fit is bigger than the previous but for some reason, I think it looks smaller or at least more agile.
Anyways, I would love to get my self on the headlights, turn signal mirrors and the lip spoiler off the hybrid and put them onto my 2008 Si sedan
